In this paper we report on some new calculations for the simple triton model considered before. Variational calculations for the ground state energy have been performed with trial functions which are of the ``double product type'' ƒ;(r1)ƒ;(r2)ƒ;(r3)+g(r1)g(r2)g(r3).
The conclusions are a) that the calculated energy value is probably relatively much closer to the exact energy than the value calculated with the best possible trial function of the product type, b) that the local energy Hψ/ψ improves considerably, especially for small interparticle distances.
