The flux of ENAs observed by IBEX [McComas et al. 2009 and other papers in the IBEX special issue of Science] is modulated by their transit through the heliosphere. Aside from the transformation between inertial and s/c frames, the two principal effects are a reduction in flux due to photoionization and charge-exchange and a distortion of the energetic neutral atom (ENA) trajectories due to the interplay of gravity and solar radiation pressure. This bending of trajectories also modifies the flux through focusing/defocusing. With some simplifying assumptions, it is possible to derive an analytic mapping for the trajectories. This can then be used to discuss the fluxes launched at the inside of the heliosheath, and to make some comparisons with more detailed numerical models. Reference: McComas, D.J., F. Allegrini, P.
