Full dielectric electromagnetic cloaks are studied in this paper for considering the possibility of achieving effective permeability gradients by taking advantage of a magnetic Mie resonance in high-κ ceramics. Extreme performance sensitivity to the dispersion of the complex effective parameters, which could be problematic for practical realization, is pointed out. In a second stage, we apply transformation optics for achieving magnification and high-resolution focusing in highly anisotropic metal dielectric flat lenses.
