The transfer of angular momentum from the sun to the planetary system in evolutionary models for the origin of the universe is examined. It is shown that the required order of magnitude of angular momentum can be transfered by a mechanism based on the principle of inertial induction. The equations describing this mechanism are presented and discussed. In previous theories, it has been assumed that the transfer took place during the premain-sequence period, whereas in the proposed theory most of the transfer takes place in the main-sequence period.
