Low-mass stars form from the collapse of prestellar cores. This is believed to be a very rapid process as there are only few cores that are currently in the state of collapsing. Therefore only little is known about this evolutionary stage. In this proposal we aim for observations in various molecular lines in the prestellar core L 429, which shows signs of infall in previous observations. These observations will enable us to reconstruct the kinematic structure of the collapse, obtain the core density structure and search for signs of core fragmentation. Observations with the ATCA will help to elucidate the characteristics of this early stage of low-mass star formation.
