The variability of total electron content over the equatorial and low-latitude regions is studied during undisturbed periods in the Brazilian sector. This work uses data of ground global positioning system (GPS) receivers during low solar activity months between 2008 and 2009. The very low rate of scintillations during this period allows the observation of important aspects of nocturnal TEC behavior during solar minimum conditions. Seasonal differences of the daily variability of TEC in some specific sites are discussed. Moreover, the influence of the equatorial anomaly region to this variability is also analyzed.
