Our understanding of GRBs has improved enormously in the last 4 years following the first optical identification. However, the emerging picture is a complicated one, with a surprising range in redshift and behaviour, which increasingly suggests we are seeing distinctly different classes of events. The accurate (< 30'') and rapid (< 1 min) burst locations of HETE-II (launched in October 2000) for both long and short duration bursts, are expected to lead GRB astronomy into a new era. We propose rapid multi-filter optical and near infra-red imaging of these error boxes with WIYN and YALO. If a counterpart is found, we also request longer timescale monitoring with WIYN to study the host galaxy and to establish the (non-)existence of an underlying SN.
