Two aircraft were used as mobile geomagnetic observatories to study the similarity of 2-25-s pulsations as a function of aircraft separation (1.6-4600 km). An analysis of the results obtained indicates that the strong similarity of pulsations weakens quickly at a distance of about 150 km, which is close to the ionospheric height and thus suggestive of a strong ionospheric control of the spatial coherence of pulsations.
