A line-shape model has been developed to study the continuum absorption of microwave radiation by water vapor. The model was tested in the spectral region below 30/cm by comparison with an experimental spectrum (Zhevakin et al., 1978). The model includes effects of finite duration of collisions and the far line contribution. The far line contribution is found to be the dominant factor for continuum absorption.
