An investigation is conducted concerning the numerical values of the maximum efficiencies which can be obtained in a utilization of direct and diffuse sunlight. It is found that the value for the conversion of energy in the case of diffuse sunlight is about 25% lower than the energy conversion factor in a process employing direct sunlight. The smaller energy value in the case of the diffuse sunlight is related to the greater entropy of the diffuse radiation.
