Earlier studies seeking to ascertain whether the distribution of the 1969-1970 jump in the secular variation rate is worldwide are continued. It is shown that the geometry of the jump presents some similarities with the geometry of the secular variation itself. A new estimation of the westward drift rate is given, along with information about spatial and temporal variations in the secular variation field.
