Vista's 4-metre primary mirror and 1.65-degree diameter infrared field
of view feeds a 64 megapixel (0.34' pixel) camera. Rapid deep IR
(0.85-2.3um) imaging surveys will both select objects for follow-up with
the VLT, and directly study a wide variety of astronomical topics.
