The CMS electromagnetic calorimeter is made of about 76000 PbWO4 crystals. It has been designed to measure energy and location of electromagnetic showers with high resolution and over a 16 bit dynamic range. Part of the read-out chain (the Front End Electronics) will be installed within the detector in a high radiation environment and inside a 4T magnetic field. The heart of the system is the Very Front End card (VFE), the board where the signal coming from the photodetectors is amplified and converted into digital form. After a brief description of the Front End Electronics, the results of the tests performed during the production, including the calibration procedure will be presented.
