Quasars: Variability

Scientific paper

The authors report on a variability study of optically selected quasar sample. Using the CCD photometry data, they searched the long term (years) variability of the quasar sample and found that about 40% optically selected quasars varied over a time line of 18 years. A negative correlation between variability and luminosity for variable quasars, i.e. more luminous QSOs show less variability, is found, and a correlation between variability and redshift may exist.
