Using the differential equation obtained from spacelike level
hypersurfaces in a Lorentzian manifold, the volume expansion rate of an
achronal spacelike hypersurface orthogonal to a timelike geodesic is
investigated in terms of the integral Ricci and scalar curvature bound.
