A stellar occultation by Triton was recently observed from southern Africa and La Ŕeunion Island on 21 May 2008. This was the first event of this kind recorded after more than ten years. Very sparse occultation observations are actually available for Triton. After the Voyager flyby in 1989, only a few events were monitored from Earth in the 1990's. Then Triton suffered an "extreme solstice" in 2000, where the subsolar latitude went up to 50°S. For the first time since 650 years ago, the south pole of Triton is continuously illuminated by the Sun. We will analyze the data to investigate whether Triton's nitrogen atmosphere suffered drastic changes in pressure associated with this extreme solstice.
