The modulation system for the secondary mirror of the infrared telescope TIRGO is described. The optimal modulation frequency, the waveforms, absolute and differential modulation, and the mechanical characteristics of the modulator are considered. The mechanics of the actuator, of mounting the mirror, and the optical alignment of the mirror are discussed. The electronics of the system are described, specifically the generator, command electronics, power amplifiers, position sensors, and the protective electronics. The procedure for regulating the position sensors is presented.
