The time behavior of the 8 km/s water maser source in Orion during the period August 1979 to November l985 is reported. Four flares were detected, with rise times of the order of a month and decay times of the order of several months to a year. The source presented a high degree of linear polarization (30% to 60%), independent of the value of the intensity. The polarization angle varied between -3 deg and -36 deg, imposing constraints on possible models of the emitting region.
