It is shown that galaxies observed edge-on with visible axis ratios less than 0.1 have a geometric thickness which can be explained only by the presence of a massive dark halo. An analysis of the condition of stellar disk stability as well as results of N-body numerical galactic modeling indicate that the minimal relative thickness of a collisionless gravitating disk decreases with the relative halo mass.
