Formulas for calculating vertical and lateral astronomical refraction describing the refraction anomalies as functions of the azimuth, elevation angle, and atmospheric parameters above the observation point are derived within the framework of a model of a three-dimensionally inhomogeneous atmosphere. A theory which is correct for an arbitrary three-dimensionally inhomogeneous spatial distribution of the air refraction index is constructed.
