The NASA Global Ultraviolet Imager (GUVI) images space weather in the Earth's upper atmosphere. In this paper we will discuss the late April 2002 solar and geomagnetic disturbance and their signatures as observed by GUVI. We find that we are able to see heating at high latitude which results in changes in the global thermospheric circulation. These changes persist for days after the initial event. We also are able to see changes in the nightside ionosphere. There the height and magnitude of the F-region peak are directly affected.
