This paper considers recently published data on observations of elastic-wave velocities aimed at the search for earthquake precursors. Ambiguity of the obtained results is suggested to be caused by low precision or inadequate method of experiments. On the basis of many years of explosion experiments on Kamchatka and in Middle Asia the authors discuss the technique of similar studies and their precision. The necessary requirements are formulated for the conditions of explosion experiments aimed at the solution of the earthquake prediction problem.
