Black Holes: Collapse
Scientific paper
A detailed and critical review is done on the spherically symmetric collapse of a pressure-free fluid body into a black hole. Tolman's well-known general solution is adopted for the interior of the fluid body for this purpose. The interior metric and its partial derivatives are matched with the exterior metric. Synge's junction conditions Tban1b∂D¯ = 0 are satisfied. The Tolman metric is classified into three distinct cases depending on a parameter ɛ = 0, ±1. Three cases are dealt with separately. In each case, five coordinate charts are used to depict the phenomenon of the collapse of a dust ball into a black hole.
