Classification-dispersion spectrograms have been taken of MK standard stars and of the solar disk. The D.D.O. classification spectrograph was used with a 41-cm telescope for the stars and with a heliostat for the solar disk. The results indicate that the spectrum of the sun is similar to or earlier than G3 up to 0.75 of the solar radius. The integrated spectral type of the sun is somewhat earlier than G3, when limb darkening is taken into account.
