The rates of photodisintegration reactions in a strongly coupled plasma are calculated, with emphasis given to resonant and nonresonant plasmas. It is shown that screening of the photodisintegration produces a decrease in the potential barrier between the two interacting nuclei, together with an increase in the energy threshold of the reaction. It is found that these two reactions almost 'cancel' each other out, the result being that the photodisintegration is slightly reduced by the screening effects. The astrophysical implications of the photodisintegration screening effect are illustrated using the example of photodisintegration of Ne-20 in the degenerate O + Ne + Mg cores of evolved stars of 8-10 solar mass.
