In the original interpretation, Einstein's theory of the non-symmetric field was thought to describe the whole of physical reality by the field alone, without external sources. With such an interpretation, however, the theory was found not to account for electromagnetism (in the same way as, without sources, general relativity does not describe gravitation). The present paper investigates what happens, if external sources are allowed for in a class of exact solutions to the field equations of the non-symmetric theory, depending on three coordinates. It is found that a four-current density j(i) appended to the right-hand side of the field equation g {is atop vee},s=0 has a fundermental role: Its very presence induces source terms in other field equations; in some solutions J(i) is clearly responsible for electromagnetic interactions; in other solutions, a string built with this current density gives rise to partons, mutually interacting with forces that do not depend on the distance, like the ones invoked to account for the behaviour of hadrons.
