The bending of light in the solar gravitational field is discussed in regard to its influence on results of astronomical measurements. Equations are derived for relativistic corrections to stellar coordinates, absolute annual parallaxes, stellar latitudinal changes, and sidereal time. A fundamentally new method is proposed for measuring absolute annual parallaxes and investigating the Einstein effect with the aid of a physical clock.
