The contribution of the neutral Goldstone boson (familon), whose interaction with fermions is off-diagonal in the flavors, to the radiative shift of the mass of a muon moving in a constant uniform magnetic field is calculated. The contribution of the familon to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is found and examined in detail. The influence of the external field on the decay of the muon into an electron and a familon is investigated. The decay of an electron into a muon and a familon is discussed, and an estimate is made of its contribution to the rate of loss of energy by a magnetized neutron star. It is shown that, under certain conditions, this mechanism of stellar cooling may be comparable with cooling by neutrino emission.
