Experimental results are produced which show that the early part of the sunrise effect is apparently not related to variations in the temperature or humidity of the lower atmosphere. An electrode effect space charge layer tends to obscure rather than enhance the effect. The expected seasonal variation in the sunrise effect was not found. Two possible explanations of this are suggested.
