The formation of the intensity of Bailey beads as observed by slitless cinematography of solar flare spectra is examined in the Fraunhofer diffraction approximation. The calculations are made using the intensity profile on the limb of the standard photosphere and chromosphere. The intensities of Bailey beads are calculated for different profiles of lunar limb depressions, including asymmetrical profiles, a rectangle, a trapezoid, and a rectangle with a central peak. It is shown that diffraction cannot explain the brightening on the eclipse curve.
