An analysis of the errors in multiplicity measurements in neutron
monitors shows that the errors introduced by correcting for gating time,
dead time and discriminator dead time are of such a magnitude that one
should not apply such corrections. Further it is shown that the errors
in uncorrected data are much smaller than usually is assumed.
