A review of the distribution, nature, and properties of dust particles in space, their charging due to plasma and other currents, and the effects of their presence on plasma behavior is presented. The grain charge number as a function of the ratio of grain to plasma number density, and the ratio of dust to ion plasma frequency as a function of the ratio of dust to plasma number density are illustrated.
