The upper subsidiary diffuse resonance in the ionosphere is identified as a hybrid resonance of the diffuse and cyclotron resonances. The corresponding frequencies are f(T,Dn) = (f-squared/Dn/ + f-squared/H/)) to the 1/2, n = 1, 2, 3, 4, ..., where f(T,Dn) is the observed frequency of the nth upper subsidiary diffuse resonance, f(Dn) is the frequency of the nth diffuse resonance, and f(H) is the electron gyrofrequency.
