Iapetus: Perturbation Theory

A semi-numerical and semi-analytical method is presented to investigate Iapetus's perturbation due to Jupiter. Analytical method is adopted to obtain disturbing function, and numerical method is used to find the solution of this system. A spectral technique was used to reconstruct the analyticity from the discrete solution given by the numerical integration of the secular terms and long period inequalities. The results confirm that the perturbing influence due to Jupiter has a perceptible effect on the motion of Iapetus.
