The O/O2 ratio at heights from 85 km to the turbopause is represented parametrically in terms of eddy diffusion coefficient K, solar dissociating flux, and ambient mesospheric conditions appropriate to a given date and latitude. The relation obtained is consistent with results of detailed calculations undertaken by various authors for the concentration of photochemically produced O under conditions of vertical eddy transport and chemical removal in an otherwise static atmosphere.
