A variety of new optical observations have been made, with advanced instruments, of the bright core of the 30 Doradus Nebula.
Velocity and density measurements from emission and absorption lines have been made at unprecedented angular and wavelength resolutions, and signal to noise ratios, with 1.9-m and 3.9-m telescopes. Furthermore, filter photographs have been printed through unsharp masks. Many new and unusual aspects of the nature of this complex region are revealed.
