Abstract

A dynamic model of the formation of loop-prominence systems is proposed whereby matter suddenly begins to condense in the corona after strong chromospheric flares and then flows to the side and down from the condensation point along a magnetic field whose lines of force are in the form of loops. Effects that develop during the return of the system to the initial state are examined. Cooling of the heated gas before the phase where it becomes visible is briefly considered. It is suggested that the formation of loop-prominence systems should be grouped with the class of events that take place during the return to the sun of hot chromospheric matter ejected during a flare.
