The velocity fields of a postflare loop prominence taken in different times using a spectrum spectroheliograph are measured by the 3CS densitometer. According to the fundamental features of the observed velocity fields, it is suggested that the plasma matter within the loop prominence, which is formed by the magnetic reconnection after flares, would flow down from the top of loops along the helical magnetic lines under the action of the gravity of the sun and the magnetic stress in the loop prominence. The theoretical distributive chart of the velocity fields of the loop prominence is basically in accordance with the observations.
