STScI has started detailed planning for the design of the JWST Science and Operations Center (S&OC). The S&OC encompasses all JWST operational processes from observing proposal solicitation, through scheduling of the accepted programs, to the calibration, archiving, and distribution of the resulting science data products. Because of the wide range of these activities, many of which are of direct concern to astronomical researchers, we present our current plans for the S&OC operations and architecture. These plans include the likely reuse of several HST-legacy systems, maintaining familiar user interfaces - albeit with changes necessary to accommodate operational requirements. Some other aspects of the operations will be different from HST, and are also of interest to the community and will be described.
