Jovian plasma currents determined from Pioneer 10 magnetic field observations can be used to construct the magnetic field due to sources interior to the magnetopause. A mathematical treatment is presented which employs the interior field to construct a zero-order approximation of magnetospheric shape under pressure balance conditions. The zero-order approximate solution to the Jovian magnetosphere shape is compared to a dipolar magnetosphere. It is shown that the calculated Jovian magnetopause is flatter but not very much flatter and more disklike than the earth's dipolar magnetopause. The neutral point on this zero-order surface is at 0.80 of the height of the subsolar point, which is in good agreement with Pioneer 11 observations if the varying tilt of the dipole is considered qualitatively.
