Absorption of yeast and E. coli in the infrared and ultraviolet regions and that of diatomaceous soil in the infrared region have been obtained. Electron microscope photographs of aggregates of E. coli have also been obtained. These results are discussed in relation to the Hoyle-Wickramasinghe hypothesis regarding the nature of interstellar grains.
