We have prepared a coherent, systematic sample of nearby star-forming galaxies of all types: the Herschel Reference Bright Galaxy Survey (HERBGS). This study is based on a sample chosen to ensure representation of the full ranges of infrared luminosity, dust temperature, and stellar mass exhibited by star-forming galaxies in the local universe. The 397-galaxy sample is small, yet can reasonably span this 3-D parameter space, and is sufficiently large to support quantitative analysis. We have complete IRAC and MIPS coverage of galaxies in the sample, and have proposed for Herschel observations. Extensive, complementary multi- wavelength data are available for all objects.
