We present the first results from our extended Deep Chandra survey of the prototypical starburst galaxy M82. The survey consists of four 120ksec long exposures covering the main body of the galaxy as well as its superwind. The goals of the survey are to study: the galactic superwind, the low metalicity gas in the starburst region, the populations of the discrete X-ray sources and the ULXs in this galaxy. The Chandra data are used in tandem with the deep HST and Spitzer observations of the same galaxy in order to obtain a more complete picture of the parameters of the starburst and its diffuse emission and discrete X-ray sources. We discuss the initial results from the analysis of the diffuse emission and the discrete X-ray sources and their implications for our understanding of this galaxy.
