The flow of the ionized gas behind a contracting ionization front is investigated for spherical symmetry. A numerical solution is given for the case where the globule of neutral hydrogen is in isothermal gravitational equilibrium and subject to ionizing radiation from outside. It is seen that large velocities do not occur within the H II region, as suggested by some authors.
