Measurement of the vertical component of the downward moving atmospheric gamma-rays made with the Max-Planck-Institut Compton telescope has led to an estimated value for the atmospheric gamma-ray emissivity, as a function of depth at a cut-off rigidity of 4.7 GV. Comparison of the computed atmospheric albedo gamma-ray flux, based the estimated value of gamma-ray emissivity, with data from gamma-ray spectrometers on board different satellite missions have confirmed this value and the consistency of these independent measurements.
