A stable solution is obtained for the problem of ambipolar plasma diffusion in the daytime F region, taking into account a variable recombination coefficient. It is graphically shown that the variability of the recombination coefficient gives a more accurate picture of the vertical electron density distribution than a solution with a constant coefficient.
