A comprehensive study of the solar flare of July 14, 1980 using H-alpha, white light, radio, and X-ray data is reported. The results are compared with the emerging electromagnetic flux (EMF) model. The morphological features of the active region are analyzed, and the magnetic energy released during the flare, the characteristic time of the flare process, the total number of accelerating electrons during the flare eruption, and the average energy of the accelerating electrons are estimated. The results show that the EMF model is in good agreement with observations. The node and nearby region of the velocity neutral line and magnetic neutral line is probably the position of the current sheet. Hard X-ray bursts are produced by high-energy nonthermal electrons accelerated in the current sheet, while soft X-ray bursts are produced by hot bremsstrahlung of high-temperature plasma in the flare region.
