Frequency Stability, Total Variance, Confidence
Scientific paper
Total variance is a newly developed statistical tool for frequency stability analysis. The development and definition of the total variance are introduced. For simulated data the estimated values and equivalent degree of freedom of traditional Allan variance are compared with those of total variance. It can be concluded that the approach of total variance can effectively improve the confidence of estimation value.
