Three multilayer spark chambers of identical design were used to study the spatial and energy characteristics as well as the intensity of multiple muons at angles of 0 deg and 64 deg to the vertical at depths of 200 and 450 mwe. The mean energy of particles making up the multiple events was found to increase drastically with an increase in the zenith angle.
