Two limiting cases of a reduction in the descent vehicle in the atmosphere of Mars were examined: descent with constant lift-drag ratio, and descent with the optimum control of aerodynamic lift. A numerical analysis is included, and it is shown that it is necessary to evaluate energy expenditures on active braking and by weight of descent control system before a descent method can be chosen.
